What’s Developing in a World in Crisis? London All Stars Is!
International Class (2013/14) alumna Elena Boukouvala and All Stars Project of London organizers Brian Mullin and Chantelle Burley invited Lois Holzman on the second leg of her London tour to lead a workshop for their community of friends and colleagues, titled, What’s Developing in a World in Crisis? Social Therapeutics and the Psychology of Becoming.
Brian, Chantelle and Elena were eager to introduce community and colleagues to Lois, social therapeutics and the the programs of the All Stars Project. Some forty people came out—a diverse group that included therapists from the National Health Service, educators, youth workers and issue-oriented community activists. During the workshop participants got to know each other through experiential play and improv exercises, and had very engaged conversation on the politics and philosophy of development, performance, play and creativity. Most signed up to help with the London talent show planned for July. Said Holzman:
People were thrilled to hear about the programs of the All Stars and the Institute. They loved meeting each other and to meeting us. The gathering broke through the professional boundaries and the increasing narrowness of what were ‘allowed’ to do in our professional roles. They found it very meaningful and energizing to share common concerns and a desire to see more creativity and play.
